Beyond The Blade was founded by a surgical-services clinician and an operator who spent two decades in military aviation — a field where every mission ends in a structured debrief and team proficiency is measured and improved relentlessly. In the OR, that same discipline has been largely missing. We started Beyond The Blade to change that: bringing the measurement culture of high-reliability fields to the teams who deliver surgical and specialty care.

Eric "Buzz" Swenson
A retired U.S. Air Force F-16 pilot and product leader, Buzz spent his career building team-performance and readiness systems. He translates the high-reliability, debrief-driven methodology of aviation into surgical team performance.
